A Flossecco Affair

  • IMG_1161.JPGMeet Flossecco ! She’s my new favourite weekend tipple ! Sweet & super quick to make you are going to want to make sure she’s invited to all your summer events !

And best of all you only need two ingredients – any guesses ?!!! I like to put the candy floss in first and then pour over the prosecco but you can do it in reverse – I like a flavoured floss (this was strawberry !) – so quick and easy !

Cheers !

Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love – Mother Teresa

Happy Mothers Day ! I hope you’ve been enjoying a lovely Mother’s Day and been spoiled with love ! Maybe even a cup of tea in bed !

We were up early (thanks clock change whose bright idea was that ?!) and as 8am rolled around twin daddy made it home loaded with breakfast treats, he whipped up a quick breakfast before heading to bed for the day – the girls were so excited to wish me ‘ Happy Mothers Day Mummy ‘ and honestly it did melt my heart….. We spent the day in the garden, pottering and listening to the radio before indulging in some treats and a Disney movie.

Mother’s Day has been so difficult in the past, it’s been 15 years this year since my own mama passed away so since then Mother’s Day has always been painful, even more so through the times I didn’t think my own dream of becoming a mama would ever come true, I don’t think you ever grow out of needing a cup of tea and hug from your mum …. it’s bittersweet now, as we take flowers to her headstone I count my blessings to have the girls by my side, but I still very much miss her & would love to have her here along this journey through the motherhood…..For me  her loss has made me appreciate the girls so much, their love is my home & there really is no place like home…..

I hope whatever you are going through, this Mothers Day has been kind to you

Once upon a time …

Yesterday, the snow fell & for me this magical scattering of snowflakes signalled winters arrival.

We played in the snow most of the morning and then spent the afternoon snuggled up under a blanket drinking warm milk watching movies & reading books.

The girls love getting cozy and listening to a good story. They have their usual favourites which they insist on each evening at bedtime, but I decided each month to introduce a new book. This month was ‘ The Princess and the Pea’ which was a lovely christmas gift from some friends.

I had already brought the bedding & the girls love looking for the ‘pea’ in their bed !

I’ve found a Valentine’s inspired one for next month and if your over on Instagram I’ll be sharing our monthly books over there.

If you have any suggestions for must reads I’d love to hear them.

Cozy Christmas Nights !

What a hugely busy month it’s been ! I’ve finished work for the year & I’ve dedicated the evenings to cozy film nights, bubble baths, wrapping gifts & catching up with friends & twin daddy !

Christmas movies really get me in the festive spirit & I thought I would share my must see movies during the Christmas Season !

The Holiday – I love this movie & it’s always the one I have on whilst wrapping gifts & drinking mulled wine ! I find myself looking into moving to the Cotswolds every time I watch it !

The Family Stone – I adore the house in this movie ! Plus it’s filled with snowy scenes to make you feel festive !

Sleepless in Seattle – Meg Ryan , Tom Hanks , New York at Christmas what’s not to love ?

Holiday Inn & White Christmas – Bing Crosby at Christmas – just perfect.

Home Alone – This is twin daddy’s must see – I love the house and the festive decor throughout !

The Grinch – Our Christmas theme this year was based around this movie – it’s such a sweet story keeping the true meaning of Christmas with us.

By the light of the silvery moon – if you are a Doris Day fan you will love this movie – again I’m obsessed with the house and the old school romance of it all!

And the top two for me are :

Meet me in St Louis & It’s a Wonderful Life ! Absolutely perfect christmas films, if you haven’t seen them you must watch immediately they will fill you with warm christmas feelings !

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Today, we are getting the reindeer food ready ,popping on a few festive movies & delving into the Christmas Eve box to get us ready for the big day !

Whatever you are up to this holiday I hope it is a peaceful and happy one for you.

Merry Christmas xoxo

On the 1st Day of Christmas

December is almost upon us ! I’ve been busily preparing for the upcoming festivities and I am so excited to start this years Advent of Traditions !

For the girls first Christmas we started to do daily traditions in the lead up to Christmas and I can’t believe this will be their third Christmas !

I love the build up to Christmas Eve and the daily tradition helps build the excitement throughout the month !

This year I have made little cards with all the traditions on and I was so delighted so many of you wanted to join in the festivities this year with your own families.

Im going to be updating our advent over on Instagram each day throughout December and it would be lovely to see your families photos too !

I love that the advent helps me focus on the little joys of the season and I hope it’s something the girls will enjoy doing more and more each year.

Have courage and be kind

In a week that has rocked the world I have found myself holding onto the girls a little tighter. They are too little to understand the sadness of last weekend in Paris and I’ve found myself wanting to protect them even more than usual.

It scares me when I think about the world they are growing up in.  Paris just brings home what atrocities are happening around the world on a daily basis.

As a mother you want to protect your children but at the same time you don’t want to smother them and prevent them from seeing the beauty of the world and living a full and happy life within it.

There are two phrases that are my parenting mantra – ‘ this too shall pass’ for those tricky days and ‘ Have courage and be kind’ from a dear old friend with a love of glass slippers and it is the latter that I hope of anything I can Instill in the girls.

I want them to have the courage to pursue their dreams, to be who they want to be, to stand up for what they believe in and to be brave when things don’t go to plan but most of all I want them to be kind.

Our annual advent of traditions starts on the 1st of Dec and whilst it is filled with fun advents of decorating gingerbread men, watching Christmas movies and writing to santa I have also put in advents to spread kindness.

From our annual present appeal collecting presents for children in tough situations over christmas to a simple random act of kindness for a stranger, sometimes it’s a lottery ticket left on a car window at the supermarket or simply letting someone go ahead of me at the supermarket queue.

On dark days it’s hard to see that the world is full of kindness , but it is, and through a saddened heart we will be brave in living our lives with courage and kindness and hope for lighter days ahead.

Who you gonna call ?

I’m not quite sure what happened to October ! It seemed to fly past in an instant – maybe because I had been looking forward to it for so long and suddenly it was upon us and before I knew it November had arrived.

It ended of course, with halloween celebrations ! This year I decided to go with a ghostbusters theme. I found some cute costumes for the girls to wear and dotted some decorations around to give a nod to the theme.

We spent the week doing spooky activities ! The fog was gathering around us whilst we hunted pumpkins & little witches made potions amongst the autumn leaves.

Travel was strictly by haunted train !

A haunted circus entertained the little ghostbusters whist the search for the perfect pumpkin continued !

All that ghost busting is hungry work, so I made sure to put on a scary feast for the girls !

I can’t quite pack away the pumpkins just yet but if October was anything to go by Christmas will be here before I know it !

Halloween & Autumn finds !

I’m snuggled up under a blanket & drinking hot chocolate, The rain is pouring down outside and my pumpkin candle is keeping a cozy glow around me. It feels very autumnal so I thought I’d share some of my autumn and halloween finds with you.

I’m currenlty on a once a month visit at Homesense as the temptation to buy is too much ! They honestly have the best house decor and I rarely come away empty handed ! I especially love this time of year when all their autumn and halloween pieces are in store.

As soon as I stepped into the store I spotted this wreath – I love it and it currently has pride of place in the kitchen.

I love halloween and decorate from the beginning of October, and I can’t wait to dot these pieces around ! The tiny diamanté details on these are really pretty.

I think this trick or treat glass plate will be perfect for some spooky nibbles & I plan to dish out the ‘ treats ‘ from the pumpkin cauldron !

My final find is something I found & used loads last year – tinned pumpkin ! Perfect for lots of yummy treats over autumn and without the hassle of preparing the pumpkin.

I’ll be sharing more autumn & halloween ideas/finds over the next few weeks & I’d love to know what finds you’ve come across !

Hello September !

Hello September ! I’ve been getting the house ready for autumn this week, organising all the decor pieces I like to dot around the house, burning candles and digging out chunking knit socks & cardis ! Have I mentioned how much I love this time of year ?

In between the usual weeks antics I finally had a chance to mooch through this months little box.

A bit of a boho inspired theme this month & I love the little quote cards, little pick me up’s if you will.

Inside I found a cute bag designed by Antik Batik, which I’m going to take away on holiday with me. I love these hair bands, I wear my hair up 99.9% of the time and get through loads of bands & these are really soft and easily manage by mane !

Some great products too. I was literally coming to the end of my usual blusher & cheek stain so these came at just the right time. You literally need the smallest amount of the stain, like barely a smidge for both cheeks. The blusher feels really silky smooth and I’m hoping it will enhance my post holiday tan a little longer. I love how fresh the body milk smells & I’m going to use this when I go away.

If you pop back next week I’m going to be posting all about my autumn must do’s ! I’ve been getting the girls wardrobe ready for the new season so will share my favourite finds as well.

Have a lovely day mamas xoxo
