Cozy Christmas Nights !

What a hugely busy month it’s been ! I’ve finished work for the year & I’ve dedicated the evenings to cozy film nights, bubble baths, wrapping gifts & catching up with friends & twin daddy !

image

Christmas movies really get me in the festive spirit & I thought I would share my must see movies during the Christmas Season !

The Holiday – I love this movie & it’s always the one I have on whilst wrapping gifts & drinking mulled wine ! I find myself looking into moving to the Cotswolds every time I watch it !

image

The Family Stone – I adore the house in this movie ! Plus it’s filled with snowy scenes to make you feel festive !

image

Sleepless in Seattle – Meg Ryan , Tom Hanks , New York at Christmas what’s not to love ?

image

Holiday Inn & White Christmas – Bing Crosby at Christmas – just perfect.

Home Alone – This is twin daddy’s must see – I love the house and the festive decor throughout !

image.jpg

The Grinch – Our Christmas theme this year was based around this movie – it’s such a sweet story keeping the true meaning of Christmas with us.

image

By the light of the silvery moon – if you are a Doris Day fan you will love this movie – again I’m obsessed with the house and the old school romance of it all!

image

And the top two for me are :

Meet me in St Louis & It’s a Wonderful Life ! Absolutely perfect christmas films, if you haven’t seen them you must watch immediately they will fill you with warm christmas feelings !

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Today, we are getting the reindeer food ready ,popping on a few festive movies & delving into the Christmas Eve box to get us ready for the big day !

Whatever you are up to this holiday I hope it is a peaceful and happy one for you.

Merry Christmas xoxo

On the 1st Day of Christmas

December is almost upon us ! I’ve been busily preparing for the upcoming festivities and I am so excited to start this years Advent of Traditions !

For the girls first Christmas we started to do daily traditions in the lead up to Christmas and I can’t believe this will be their third Christmas !

image

I love the build up to Christmas Eve and the daily tradition helps build the excitement throughout the month !

This year I have made little cards with all the traditions on and I was so delighted so many of you wanted to join in the festivities this year with your own families.

image.jpg

Im going to be updating our advent over on Instagram each day throughout December and it would be lovely to see your families photos too !

image

I love that the advent helps me focus on the little joys of the season and I hope it’s something the girls will enjoy doing more and more each year.

I do, I do, I do !

May & June have been such fun filled months, with birthdays, bridal showers and weddings there has been plenty going on !

I was so honoured when my friend asked me to be involved in styling her wedding. With lots of chat over tea and Pinterest we planned ideas and put together a beautiful romantic rustic wedding theme.

But before a wedding comes a bridal soirée ! A small gathering of the brides nearest and dearest joined her to celebrate over Pimms and wish her well on her upcoming nuptials. Well wishes and advice were written on little wooden spoons to be dipped into over the future years !

image image

Then it was time for the ‘I do’s’ ! The venue was a beautiful traditional manor surrounded by glorious countryside. The sun was shining and the manicured gardens were host to the wedding marquee.

image

The floral theme was dotted around the room from the table plan, cake and table centrepieces. It was a quintessential country summer wedding. Afternoon tea was enjoyed by all as you can see a small twin hand couldn’t wait to try the afternoon delights !

imageimageimage

I found the apple crate from one of my favourite vintage shops and after some dusting down it was perfect for the table plan. Each table was named after flowers, so I made a floral inspired seating plan and sprigs of lavender finished off the display.  I made a matching heart garland and tied it to a vintage suitcase for guests to leave cards for the happy couple.

imageimage

The cake took centre stage between floral arrangements. It was simply beautiful and perfect for the country style wedding.

imageimageimage

It was a beautiful day and I was so happy to be a part of it and to celebrate the nuptials. Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness !

Be our guest ! Twins turned 2 !

I can’t believe we are almost halfway through June ! May absolutely flew past me in a haze of tutus and cupcakes ! The girls turned two and we had a small gathering to celebrate ! The weather came good for us and enabled my slightly bigger than twin daddy approved guest list to spill out into the garden !

image

This year I decided to go for a beauty and the beast theme for the birthday. The girls love the film and always dance to the ballroom scene so I thought it would be a cute theme.

imageimage

We had a late afternoon party so I decided to do a mini desert table with the birthday cake as centre stage. My lovely friend made the cake to tie in with the pink & yellow colour scheme. We had little cookies in the shape of Mrs Potts, Chip & Belles dress, yellow belle cupcakes and tiara shaped sandwiches.

image image

I made little food tags, welcome signs and added a large belle as a focal point on the table.

Little touches included the wooden initials and number 2 which I painted in pink and yellow, then a dusting of table confetti finished it off. I also had a copy of beauty and the beast for guests to sign and leave birthday wishes for the girls.

image imageimage

I decided to invite a special guest to entertain the little ones and Princess Belle was luckily available to attend to sprinkle a final dusting of magic to the party.

imageimage

Instead of party bags I did little bottles of princess bubbles with a thank you tag.

image

It was a lovely afternoon of dancing & eating cake with our special friends and family.  I’m always exhausted but sad when it’s over !

The girls are growing up so fast and the birthdays remind you how far they have come. I’m so blessed to be able to have two special ladies call me mama and it’s such a treat to plan their birthdays – can’t wait for next year !

Sweet Treat Sunday – Buttermilk Pancakes

I love to make a hot breakfast on a Sunday, and a few weeks ago I discovered Buttermilk in the supermarket and decided to try buttermilk pancakes.

image

They are so yummy and have become a regular on the Sunday breakfast scene in our house. If your a pancake fan try them , they are super quick to make and taste delicious with bacon & maple syrup !

Here’s the recipe :

1 x cup plain flour

2 x tablespoons of sugar

1 x teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 x teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 x cup of Buttermilk

1 x teaspoon vanilla

1 x egg

2 x tablespoons vegetable oil

Add the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients together then pour into the large mixing bowl with the dry ingredients and whisk until most of the lumps are gone.

image

Heat a large pan over a medium heat & spray with cooking oil spray. Spoon some of the mixture into the pan and cook until bubbles form on the surface then flip the pancake. Cook until golden brown and cooked in the centre.

image

I cooked up some bacon and added maple syrup for a breakfast treat for twin daddy ! I’m still perfecting them and these were a little overdone but they still tasted great – Enjoy !

Love is in the air – 14 Days of Love !

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I’ve been busy designing some pieces to share the love ! I am a huge romantic and absolutely love all things heart/ love / romance inspired so valentines day is just an excuse to celebrate the love and decorate the house!

imageimageimage

Since the arrival of the twins it’s fair to say the level of romancing is not what it used to be ! In a bid to keep some romance alive we celebrated 14 days of love last year. In the lead up to valentines day twin daddy and I took it in turns to do a little gesture of love each day. It was lovely to take some time to think about each other !

Here are a few ideas from last years 14 Days of Love !

image image imageimage

The final Day was valentines Day and we had a little snuggle kit and movie to watch. This year In honour of the snuggle kit I’ve designed some little tags to add a personal touch. If your planning on staying in this year why not make your own little kit with a tag and enjoy a romantic night in !

Happy New Year – Mummy’s the word !

Happy New Year everyone !

We had such a nice chilled out Christmas but it just flew past ! The weeks (ok months!) of build up and planning and it was here and gone so quickly, I actually had my first bout of post Christmas blues this year !

image

Anyway, 2015 is here and I’m excited to see what the year has in store ! The girls are 20 months old now and honestly they are into everything , they are full of excitement and leave a wake of destruction wherever they go ! They are starting a little toddler dance class this week so that should be interesting !

I’ve been super busy getting some new designs ready for the facebook page. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with the girls I couldn’t wait to share the news with everyone, we didn’t put up the scan picture but instead we shared this snap to let people know about our new arrivals !

image

It inspired me to create a range of pregnancy announcement cards ! It’s been making me broody but I have loved playing around with the designs,  Here’s a couple of my favourites !

imageimage

image image

I’ve been working on a custom order so my secret keeping is really working overtime with this range, but I think they are such a cute way to share a big announcement, so mummy’s the word until the news is shared !

Our gifts are all around us.

It’s Christmas Eve ! It’s one of my favourite days of the year and I’m so excited to spend the day with the girls.  We have cookies to make for santa, reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn and the Christmas Eve box to enjoy !

image

We have done so many special things throughout December and the month has flown by ! Our advent of traditions will be ending tomorrow with the Christmas Eve Box and once the girls are tucked up in bed we will bring down the presents ready for the morning.

image

I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more this year.  The girls are happy and healthy and I am so lucky to have them. Being a mummy is the most rewarding, amazing, scary, worrying, exhausting job in the world but it is a job I am thankful every day for ( on teething nights maybe it takes a couple of cups of tea but then I’m thankful !) . Twin daddy works hard and is an amazing support in everything we do and I am so lucky to have him. I have been so grateful for my amazing friends and family whose support means so much to me and the girls. Although my own mum is no longer with us I’m thankful to be surrounded by so many mummies who inspire me everyday.

image

Hopefully, we will be lucky enough to have 3 days together with twin daddy over Christmas and that is honestly all I really want for Christmas ( though if Dolly partons albumns in my stocking I’ll take it !) and on Christmas morning I know my gifts will be around the tree tearing open presents and for that I am truly thankful !

image

Wishing you and your families a peaceful and magical Christmas.

Home for the Holidays !

Where has December gone ? I cannot believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve ! We are pretty much ready and the last couple of days I’ve been able to catch up on the last of the preparations.

This year I was inspired to go for a vintage theme after my love of Meet Me In St Louis. It’s one of my favourite Christmas films and a must watch for me on Christmas Eve !

From the off I knew the tree was going to be an issue. The girls are 19 months and into everything so I knew this year my perfect tree wasn’t going to happen.

Here’s my perfectly decorated top half of the tree ! (Good job we went for a big tree !) and the post twin destruction reality shot !

imageimage

There are lots of wooden decorations, candy canes, berries and cinnamon sticks !  I made the girls a little decoration out out wooden shaped baubles,  I also popped on of the believe bells on the tree !

image imageimage

The little ice skating decorating was our tribute to the theme ! I love those vintage skates !

image

I think wreaths and garlands look so festive,  so I wanted to incorporate them into this years decorating, I dotted garlands around the house and made dried orange and clove slices to decorate them.

image image

We we have a shelf above our bed and I love the look of the garland among the fairy lights and I used another garland in the kitchen.

image imageimageimage

The rest of the house has a cozy feel with lots of throws, cushions and vintage accessories !

image image  image image imageimage

I love how Christmassy the house feels , I’ve had lots of candles burning, mulled wine mulling and old movies playing. I’m all ready for a Merry Little Christmas !
