Mama’s Moments – My Little Box

This is the first post of a new section of the blog ! Now the girls are getting bigger I’m finding it abit easier to take a bit of time out each week to re-charge and I thought I would share my ‘mama moments’ with you. Having two two years to run around after is amazing fun but lots of work and between looking after the girls, the house and working I’m pretty exhausted by the end of the week.

Twin daddy is a big gym fan and that’s his thing so he takes time out a couple of times a week to recharge there. I’m more of a bubble bath and glass of rose recharge kind of person or a mooch around a vintage boutique, an early night with a new book and bar of galaxy (caramel please !) – it’s quiet and calming and a balance to the busy days !  image

Every week I will share my ‘mamas moments’ which I think will help me focus on making sure I take them !

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago so I decided to treat myself to a subscription from My Little Box. It’s a surprise box of goodies that gets delivered to your door each month ! It actually arrived on my birthday and I was super excited to try everything out.

I loved the packaging and I will be keeping the boxes for handy storage of nail polishes. The beauty products come in a little tote bag and it’s all tied up with a ribbon.

This box had a selection of l’occitane products and a eyeshadow crayon. I really like l’occitane and the verbena soap and body lotion are really fresh smelling. The rose hand cream is soft and floral and I leave it in the changing bag as my hands are always dry from the constant cleaning around after twin toddlers. The shower gel is a bit masculine smelling for me so I gave that to twin daddy for his gym bag ! The crayon was lovely to use and as I apply all my makeup with my hands and in under 3 minutes it fitted into my makeup routine perfectly !

I also got a little cuff which you can decorate but I haven’t had the time yet, I wore it out that evening for my birthday dinner and went for a black and gold look.

There were a few other little items like this cute quote card and a set of dress up magnets with different outfits to put on a magnet doll. I gave these to the girls who loved them, unfortunately the doll was later involved in a twin related dispute and didn’t survive she is now with the headless teddy in toy heaven, anyway I really enjoyed the box it was such a treat to come through the post and I’m already looking forward to the next one !

More mama moments next week !

Have a good week mamas xx

Be our guest ! Twins turned 2 !

I can’t believe we are almost halfway through June ! May absolutely flew past me in a haze of tutus and cupcakes ! The girls turned two and we had a small gathering to celebrate ! The weather came good for us and enabled my slightly bigger than twin daddy approved guest list to spill out into the garden !

This year I decided to go for a beauty and the beast theme for the birthday. The girls love the film and always dance to the ballroom scene so I thought it would be a cute theme.

We had a late afternoon party so I decided to do a mini desert table with the birthday cake as centre stage. My lovely friend made the cake to tie in with the pink & yellow colour scheme. We had little cookies in the shape of Mrs Potts, Chip & Belles dress, yellow belle cupcakes and tiara shaped sandwiches.

I made little food tags, welcome signs and added a large belle as a focal point on the table.

Little touches included the wooden initials and number 2 which I painted in pink and yellow, then a dusting of table confetti finished it off. I also had a copy of beauty and the beast for guests to sign and leave birthday wishes for the girls.

I decided to invite a special guest to entertain the little ones and Princess Belle was luckily available to attend to sprinkle a final dusting of magic to the party.

Instead of party bags I did little bottles of princess bubbles with a thank you tag.

It was a lovely afternoon of dancing & eating cake with our special friends and family.  I’m always exhausted but sad when it’s over !

The girls are growing up so fast and the birthdays remind you how far they have come. I’m so blessed to be able to have two special ladies call me mama and it’s such a treat to plan their birthdays – can’t wait for next year !

Twins about to turn two !

Where is this year going ?! I can’t believe it’s May already ! I hope you all had a great Easter, ours was chocolate filled though we did a few Easter egg hunts so pretty sure I burned off the extra calories chasing around after the girls !

The girls are about to turn 2 and it only feels like yesterday that I was waddling about barely able to move waiting to have them ! I’ve been busy making preparations for their birthday, twin daddy gave me strict instructions that I was not throwing a big party this year so we are having a ‘gathering’ at our house instead , I’m hoping it’s sunny as the guest list is bigger than our tiny living room can cope with and my whole party , I mean gathering, revolves around a gazebo in the garden !

I’ve spent ages planning the theme and bringing all the small touches together so I hope the girls enjoy it. I will post all the pictures and details after the party !  Last year we did Alice in Wonderland and we’ve gone for a princess theme this year !

They are growing up so fast which is lovely to watch but it makes me miss the baby stage ! I keep going back and fourth on when/if to expand our family but I think for now we will enjoy the rest of this year as a family of four and leave anything else in the hands of the stork !

Sweet Treat Sunday – Buttermilk Pancakes

I love to make a hot breakfast on a Sunday, and a few weeks ago I discovered Buttermilk in the supermarket and decided to try buttermilk pancakes.

They are so yummy and have become a regular on the Sunday breakfast scene in our house. If your a pancake fan try them , they are super quick to make and taste delicious with bacon & maple syrup !

Here’s the recipe :

1 x cup plain flour

2 x tablespoons of sugar

1 x teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 x teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 x cup of Buttermilk

1 x teaspoon vanilla

1 x egg

2 x tablespoons vegetable oil

Add the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients together then pour into the large mixing bowl with the dry ingredients and whisk until most of the lumps are gone.

Heat a large pan over a medium heat & spray with cooking oil spray. Spoon some of the mixture into the pan and cook until bubbles form on the surface then flip the pancake. Cook until golden brown and cooked in the centre.

I cooked up some bacon and added maple syrup for a breakfast treat for twin daddy ! I’m still perfecting them and these were a little overdone but they still tasted great – Enjoy !

Happy Mother’s Day ! I’m enjoying a cup of tea in bed and listening to radio 2 ! A perfect Mothers Day treat !

It’s been such a busy couple of months it’s nice to slow down for a morning and relax ! I’ve been working on lots of new ideas for the facebook page which has been filling up any spare time I have. I love designing the stationary range so do keep an eye out for the new products and I’ll be blogging party ideas too !

Anyway, the last few weeks have seen some new changes – Twin daddy started a new position at work which meant he doesn’t get days off in the week so he couldn’t look after the girls on the days I worked. So they have started nursery and they love it. There is some tears at drop off from them and me but we are a few weeks in now and it’s getting easier, they are almost two but it’s still hard to let get ! The flip side is twin daddy is home every weekend which has been amazing, we are able to have proper family time and spend quality time together so I am really making the most of it !

So after the initial change in routine I’m starting to get the nursery drop off down,  it’s VERY manic in the house on a Monday morning as I try and get two busy toddlers dressed, fed and out the door by 8am whilst ensuring I look work presentable ! Last week, I had an early meeting and was rushing around as usual, the girls were hiding their shoes and coats, and I was using my new liquid crayon blusher (my make up routine is 45 seconds, foundation, eyeliner, mascara & blusher crayon !!) as I applied it one of the girls started to ride along on the others back ( daddy is normally the role of the donkey !) and as I flew out to stop an injury I forget to rub in the crayon. So once we were finally bundled into the car and off I didn’t even realise I looked like bosco the clown ! Thankfully I caught sight of myself in the car mirror as we pulled up to nursery !

The following week one of the girls had a fall at nursery . I spent the evening at the hospital as they thought she had fractured her clavicle but after X-rays and a follow up a few days later she was given the all clear, unfortunately we picked up the vomiting bug and spent most of last weekend confined to the house – we went through so much laundry we ended up sleeping on towels !

The girls are turning two in May and I still don’t know where the time has gone ! I am honestly so thankful for all the chaos and truly blessed to be their mummy!  There was a time when I wasn’t sure if I would be able to have children and following years of fertility treatment and a breakdown in a relationship it was something I had to try and accept.

When I met twin daddy I was really honest about the fertility issues and he was so understanding. We were just about to celebrate our 2nd anniversary when I was complaining about feeling poorly. I’d been working lots and traveling lots of miles in the car so I put it down to being run down.  So when my friend suggested I took a pregnancy test I laughed at her, twin daddy had been working loads we hadn’t even seen each other, but I agreed and brought the cheapest one ! I remember literally throwing it when it came back positive ! I rushed out to the shops and brought more all of which said the same thing ! I’d been bleeding so called the doctors and was sent for a scan the following day – as we laid on the bed the nurse turned up the sound and we heard the heartbeat it was the most amazing feeling in the world ! Then she went quiet and turned the screen from us – I started quietly panicking and after what seemed like an eternity she turned to us and said ‘ it looks like there are twins in here ‘ !

It was amazing news and I honestly feel so blessed to have been given the chance to be a mummy. They teach me so much and I’ve learned so much about myself. It has been so hard at times but I wouldn’t change it for the world. When I lost my mum, Mothers Day was always a difficult day and having the girls has helped fill the void she left.  I am truly thankful for the legacy of love she left me to help me raise the girls the same way.  I am also lucky that I’m surrounded by strong, amazing, hardworking and loving mummies who inspire me to be the best mummy I can be.

Happy Mother’s Day Mummies – ‘ To the world you might be one just person, but to one person you might just be the world’

Love is in the air – 14 Days of Love !

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I’ve been busy designing some pieces to share the love ! I am a huge romantic and absolutely love all things heart/ love / romance inspired so valentines day is just an excuse to celebrate the love and decorate the house!

Since the arrival of the twins it’s fair to say the level of romancing is not what it used to be ! In a bid to keep some romance alive we celebrated 14 days of love last year. In the lead up to valentines day twin daddy and I took it in turns to do a little gesture of love each day. It was lovely to take some time to think about each other !

Here are a few ideas from last years 14 Days of Love !

image image imageimage

The final Day was valentines Day and we had a little snuggle kit and movie to watch. This year In honour of the snuggle kit I’ve designed some little tags to add a personal touch. If your planning on staying in this year why not make your own little kit with a tag and enjoy a romantic night in !

Happy New Year – Mummy’s the word !

Happy New Year everyone !

We had such a nice chilled out Christmas but it just flew past ! The weeks (ok months!) of build up and planning and it was here and gone so quickly, I actually had my first bout of post Christmas blues this year !

Anyway, 2015 is here and I’m excited to see what the year has in store ! The girls are 20 months old now and honestly they are into everything , they are full of excitement and leave a wake of destruction wherever they go ! They are starting a little toddler dance class this week so that should be interesting !

I’ve been super busy getting some new designs ready for the facebook page. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with the girls I couldn’t wait to share the news with everyone, we didn’t put up the scan picture but instead we shared this snap to let people know about our new arrivals !

It inspired me to create a range of pregnancy announcement cards ! It’s been making me broody but I have loved playing around with the designs,  Here’s a couple of my favourites !

I’ve been working on a custom order so my secret keeping is really working overtime with this range, but I think they are such a cute way to share a big announcement, so mummy’s the word until the news is shared !

Our gifts are all around us.

It’s Christmas Eve ! It’s one of my favourite days of the year and I’m so excited to spend the day with the girls.  We have cookies to make for santa, reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn and the Christmas Eve box to enjoy !

We have done so many special things throughout December and the month has flown by ! Our advent of traditions will be ending tomorrow with the Christmas Eve Box and once the girls are tucked up in bed we will bring down the presents ready for the morning.

I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more this year.  The girls are happy and healthy and I am so lucky to have them. Being a mummy is the most rewarding, amazing, scary, worrying, exhausting job in the world but it is a job I am thankful every day for ( on teething nights maybe it takes a couple of cups of tea but then I’m thankful !) . Twin daddy works hard and is an amazing support in everything we do and I am so lucky to have him. I have been so grateful for my amazing friends and family whose support means so much to me and the girls. Although my own mum is no longer with us I’m thankful to be surrounded by so many mummies who inspire me everyday.

Hopefully, we will be lucky enough to have 3 days together with twin daddy over Christmas and that is honestly all I really want for Christmas ( though if Dolly partons albumns in my stocking I’ll take it !) and on Christmas morning I know my gifts will be around the tree tearing open presents and for that I am truly thankful !

Wishing you and your families a peaceful and magical Christmas.

Home for the Holidays !

Where has December gone ? I cannot believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve ! We are pretty much ready and the last couple of days I’ve been able to catch up on the last of the preparations.

This year I was inspired to go for a vintage theme after my love of Meet Me In St Louis. It’s one of my favourite Christmas films and a must watch for me on Christmas Eve !

From the off I knew the tree was going to be an issue. The girls are 19 months and into everything so I knew this year my perfect tree wasn’t going to happen.

Here’s my perfectly decorated top half of the tree ! (Good job we went for a big tree !) and the post twin destruction reality shot !

There are lots of wooden decorations, candy canes, berries and cinnamon sticks !  I made the girls a little decoration out out wooden shaped baubles,  I also popped on of the believe bells on the tree !

image imageimage

The little ice skating decorating was our tribute to the theme ! I love those vintage skates !

I think wreaths and garlands look so festive,  so I wanted to incorporate them into this years decorating, I dotted garlands around the house and made dried orange and clove slices to decorate them.

image image

We we have a shelf above our bed and I love the look of the garland among the fairy lights and I used another garland in the kitchen.

image imageimageimage

The rest of the house has a cozy feel with lots of throws, cushions and vintage accessories !

I love how Christmassy the house feels , I’ve had lots of candles burning, mulled wine mulling and old movies playing. I’m all ready for a Merry Little Christmas !
